With hearts full of gratitude and cherished memories, we honor the extraordinary life of Katrina Shamburger Davis, who was born in Robbins, NC, on November 10, 1933, to the late William and
Novella Shamburger. She departed this life peacefully on February 4, 2024, at the age of 90, reuniting in spirit with her beloved husband, James Buford Davis, and her siblings Phyllis, Irene, Dewey, Ferral, Donald, and Bernie Shamburger.
Katrina’s life was a testament to strength, love, and honesty, traits that endeared her to everyone she met. After completing her education at Pickney High School in Carthage, NC, she moved to New York. When she returned to Robbins, NC she met James, who had freshly returned from the military service. Their meeting sparked a lifelong partnership, culminating in marriage in 1963. The couple eventually settled in Greensboro, becoming integral parts of the Eastern Star community.
Katrina’s professional journey included dedicated service at Levi Strauss and Fellowship Hall, where she retired from housekeeping. Not one to idle, she continued her work with the Guilford County Schools’ cafeteria team. Her community spirit shone through her active involvement in Manasseh Ct # 9 H.O.J, P.H.A., Susie P. Rankin Ct # 1, LOCOP P.H.A., and Nazarene Ct # 5 O.C.C / P.H.A. Alongside James, she joined Morning Star in the 1970s, and was a faithful member of Westside Missionary Church. Later, she found a spiritual home at Mt. Pleasant in Greensboro, NC, where she joyfully participated in the senior choir under watch care.
Katrina’s 90 years were marked by an infectious smile, a compassionate heart, and an unwavering faith that illuminated the lives of many. Her deep belief in God was her sustenance, guiding her through life’s highs and lows with grace.
She leaves behind a rich legacy of love and fond memories as a devoted mother to Tabitha Craigs (Ronny), Priscilla Haynes (Melvin*), and James Davis (Bonita). She is also survived by her loving sister, Carrie Simmons, and brother, William Shamburger Jr. (Jean), along with her cherished grandchildren; Jasmaine Dooley (Tahjmin), Dakota Craigs, Latosha Hughley (Hansel), Curtis Shamburger (Robin), Ray Shamburger, James Issac Davis, Jermaine Davis, Melvin Haynes, Jr. and Marqaicha Welch (Hollis). Her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends also mourn her passing while celebrating the impact she had on their lives.
Katrina’s journey on earth may have ended, but her spirit, love, and memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
